Cynthia de Lorenzi
Chief Executive Officer
North Texas Technology Council

Ms. de Lorenzi is the Chief Executive Officer of Patriot Computer Group, Inc. (PCG) and its subsidiary PatriotNet, Inc. For more than 8 years, PCG and PatriotNet have been providing quality, customer-focused Internet services including Web hosting, managed servers, dial-up access, email, and dedicated access through DSL and T1 connectivity. PatriotNet has also gained recognition for providing telework solutions and technology, including Virtual Private Networks for small to medium-sized businesses. Ms. de Lorenzi is a co-founder of the North Texas Technology Council (NTTC), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting North Texas as a premier technology region. She serves as Chief Executive Officer and a Director for this successful organization. In 2000, the NTTC hosted the first Telework America Southwest Summit. Ms. de Lorenzi served as the Southwest Regional Director of the Concord Coalition, a nonpartisan, grassroots educational organization advocating fiscal responsibility and reform of entitlement programs to ensure the viability and fairness for all generations. Ms. de Lorenzi is the owner of broadcastaresume.com, a resume fax-broadcasting company headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Telework Coalition and the E-Commute Committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council. She is an approved Consultant for the TeleworkVA program and she also serves on the Executive Committee for the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative and the Compass Advisory Board for modernizing Social Security. Ms. de Lorenzi is a frequent speaker, panelist and media guest on issues related to policy, workforce and technology issues. Ms. de Lorenzi is a graduate of George Mason University and the proud mother of 2 children.

   

Terry L. Traveland
Executive Director
North Texas Technology Council

Ms. Traveland is a founder of the North Texas Technology Council and currently serves as the Executive Director and General Counsel.  She is an attorney with Traveland & Jiongo, LLC and has practiced corporate law for ten years in private practice, concentrating her practice on high tech and Internet companies and representing a variety of businesses, including emerging and established companies.  Ms. Traveland is also a co-founder of the Alliance of Technology and Women, a non-profit corporation dedicated to increasing the number of women in technology and executive roles.  She serves on the Steering Committee of The Tech Show, a one-hour television show on PBS focused on technology. Ms. Traveland was a founder of the North Texas Chapter of Women in Technology International for which she served as Communications Director from May 1998 until July 2002.  In May 2001, Power Media Group's Texas Technology Magazine awarded her the Technologist of the Year Award in the Legal Division.  She is also a proud lifetime member of the Girl Scouts.

   

John Edwards
President
Telework Network, Inc.

Mr. Edwards is past President (2000/01) of the International Teleworking Association and Council (ITAC). He is currently President of the Telework Network, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of Telework Analytics International, Inc.  He serves on the National and DC Metro Telecommuting and Air Quality Act (TAQA) Steering Committees of the e-Commute pilot.  He also serves on the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Transport & Telework Committee as its Telework Chair. He has served as advisor to the Internet Governance Committee of JCOTS (Joint Commission on Technology & Science) for the Commonwealth of Virginia and is past Director of Commuter Choice™ Initiatives (2000).  Mr. Edwards is currently a USDA Graduate School Faculty Member.  He teaches two courses: telework program development and managing distributed workforces.  He has guest lectured at American University and Johns Hopkins’ University Graduate studies programs.  Mr. Edwards is a published author on teleworking and a prominent source of telework information.

   

Jack Heacock

Jack Heacock is a Telework and Call Center Consultant.  He is a past President (1998/99) of The International Telework Association and Council (ITAC) and a winner of Call Center Magazine’s ‘Call Center Pioneer Award 2001.   Mr. Heacock created Amtrak’s Award winning Riverside, California Reservations and Sales Call Center, has advised the U.S. Postal Service on their National Customer Service Center Program, and assisted Mattel to create their Call Center.  He was also AT&T Broadband’s Call Center Project Manager, creating their “Building the Foundation For Change” nationwide Customer Service and Sales Improvement Program.  He addressed ICCM, Call Center and CRM Dallas and Toronto, the Employment Management Association & Society for Human Resource Management ‘s Annual Conferences, as well as IFMA’s World Workplace, Nortel’s INNMUG and Rockwell’s User’s Group.  Mr. Heacock has written numerous articles and advised corporate clients on "How To Create and Implement Remote Work Strategies."  Jack is a graduate of Valley Forge Military College and the University of Delaware’s College of Business & Economics.

   

Brendan Read

Brendan Read is Services Editor with Call Center Magazine. His beat covers teleworking, site selection, outsourcing, staffing and training.

Read has written articles and opinion pieces on teleworking. He is author of "Designing the Best Call Center for Your Business" and co-author, with Chief Technical Editor Joseph Fleischer "The Complete Guide to Customer Support", both of which discuss teleworking; both are published by CMP Books. He is working a third book, on teleworker management, which will be published in early 2004 also by CMP Books.

Read has walked the walk on teleworking. He works from his home on Vancouver Island, Canada for his New York City-based employer. He has teleworked for magazines and newspapers from home offices he set up in New York City, London and Blackburn, UK and Concord, NH.

   

Tim Houlne

Mr. Houlne has more than fourteen years' experience in the teleservices, technical support, and warranty management industries.  As Chief Executive Officer of Working Solutions, he has been one of the driving forces behind the consistent, structured growth of the virtual service company of more than 16,000 remote agents.  He takes a hands-on approach to the day-to-day work of maintaining current clients, as well as establishing new foundations of business solutions.  Mr. Houlne was the Vice President Sales and Marketing for GE TechTeam, where he led a group of officers through the development of products and services that focused on inbound contact centers offering technical support and warranty management services.   He also spent more than seven years with West Teleservices, where he managed solutions for Fortune 500 companies. In 1989, Mr. Houlne co-founded Connect Services, an exclusive marketing agent for Sprint long distance services to the cellular industry and one of the first companies to offer equal access to individual cellular phone users through a nationwide network of cellular agents.  Mr. Houlne holds a BSBA in management and an ASBA in banking and finance from Missouri Western State University.

Joanne H. Pratt, is president of her consulting firm, Joanne H. Pratt Associates, which specializes in the virtual office, including telework, homebased businesses, and other new work patterns.  She is a recognized futurist and authority on homebased work. Her teleworking research includes business impacts, transportation implications, family issues, and impacts on corporate work patterns.  Joanne is the author of "Cost/Benefits of Teleworking to Manage Work/life Responsibilities", "Homebased Business: the Hidden Economy", "Counting the New Mobile Workforce" and "Telecommuting--Checking Into It".

   

Chuck Wilsker
Executive Director
The Telework Coalition


After 30 years in the telecommunication’s industry, Mr. Wilsker took an interest in the roles technology and broadband play in establishing Telework programs and how they help address the rapidly growing traffic problems plaguing the Washington Metropolitan area and the rest of the country.  This interest expanded to include an involvement in other projects attempting to increase the mobility and quality of life of the workforce, addressing environmental issues, and helping develop the business case for establishing Telework programs. He is currently the Executive Director of the Telework Coalition, working to promote both State and Federal Telework legislation, training employers and employees on the development of telework programs, and speaking on the many benefits available though telework.  Mr. Wilsker is a member of the Government Relations and Transportation Committees of the Maryland Technology Council, the Transportation and Telework Committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Washington DC Technology Council and the Internet Society.  He also serves as the chair of the Telework Task Force for the Transportation and Environment Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Board of Trade..  He was the Executive Director of ITAC, The International Telework Association & Council, and is the Past President of MATAC, the Mid Atlantic Telework Advisory Council.  Mr. Wilsker is also a member of the newly formed Maryland State Work~Life Alliance, where he co-chairs the Recognition Committee. He was on the committee developing and promoting the Washington Area Conference on Telework.  He sits on both the Metropolitan Washington, DC and National Telecommuting and Air Quality Act (TAQA) Steering Committees of the e-Commute program run by the EPA.  He is a Project Team member of a group funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health developing a program of Safety and Health Training for Teleworkers.  He has spoken on the involvement of technology with telework at the National Institute of Science and Technology.  Mr. Wilsker has been the featured guest on many radio programs as well as appearing on the TV show Money Moves that aired on both ABC and PBS, in segments on both Telework and the Internet.  He also was a featured guest on Fox News' Fox Magazine.  Additionally, he has written many articles on Teleworking, and is often quoted in local and National press, including The Washington Post, USAToday, and ABCNews.com as an authority on current trends in Telework.
